Statement on Safety and Conduct
Cumberland Pride Festival is a place to welcome one another and come together and celebrate the progress of the Allegany County LGBTQIA+ community.
These requests are meant to ensure the festival is a safe and accepting space for so many who don’t always experience a feeling of safety and for everyone to be treated with courtesy and respect.
We recognize the struggles and possibilities of the LGBTQIA+ community. All participants in the festival are expected to embrace our past and our future.
We desire a safe place to honor and celebrate and will not tolerate threatening, violent, harassing, or offensive behavior against organizers, volunteers, vendors, artists, performers or participants. Further, we will not tolerate any individual making derogatory remarks about a person's age, race, ethnicity, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, body, attire, physical or mental ability, economic status, spiritual or religious beliefs and practices.
While our event is open to the public, the Canal Place facilities are privately rented by Cumberland Pride.
Cumberland Pride has a private security team and maintains communication with the Cumberland Police Department throughout the day.
We kindly request that festival guests do NOT engage any protestors outside our event and inform us at Pride HQ tent of any antagonistic presence on the festival grounds.
Please allow our security team or the police to handle any situation.
